🚀How to test GA4 set up on shopify?🤔

You can test your GA4 setup through the Tag Assistant Companion extension as well as from Google Analytics. First of all, install the Tag assistant companion extension.

Open the extension and connect your store to it, which will direct you to a new tab. In that tab, open any product and perform some activities, such as adding it to the cart or checking out, then review the results in the previous Tag Assistant tab. Note: Make sure not to close the Tag Assistant pop-up while performing activities.

If you want to test a purchase, you can use the Custom Pixel Test Helper, as the Tag Assistant Companion is not compatible with the purchase event due to recent Shopify updates. Learn more For purchase testing, go to Shopify Settings > Customer Events > Custom Pixel for Wixpa GA4 and click on "Test" at the top.

Now, complete a purchase, and you should see in the Pixel Helper that the purchase event has been triggered. You can also view the entire data layer by clicking "Show."

Note: Be sure not to close the Pixel Helper pop-up. Also, keep in mind that this Pixel Helper is specifically for purchase events, so it will only track purchases, not other events.

You can also view all activities in Google Analytics. Click on Reports and go to Realtime, where you'll see all the tracked events listed there.
